The path, from beginning to end

The curriculum is made up of foundational Bible studies arranged in order, so that each lesson builds on the one before it. We therefore encourage you to study the parts in sequence, for the greatest benefit, and so that you grow in your knowledge of God and in your life with him in a balanced way.

Discipleship

Discipleship is not merely Bible study, or the gathering of spiritual information. It is a journey of life with the Lord Jesus Christ, in which he leads us to change and to grow day after day until we become like him.

When Christ came into the world he did not stop at preaching — he made disciples. He called them to be with him, to learn from him, and to walk in his steps, so that their lives would be shaped into his image. Discipleship, then, is not a syllabus but a way of life, and within it Christ is both the teacher and the example.

The discipleship sessions of the School of Christ are meant to help you build a deeper relationship with God, and to discover your identity as a child of the Father, a disciple of the Lord Jesus, and a temple of the Holy Spirit — so that you learn to live out the word of God practically in your life.

We invite you to join this journey: not to learn about Christ, but to learn Christ himself, and to walk with him until his image is formed in you.

Study Companion

The Study Companion: it knows every lesson, and it knows where you have reached.

Not a search engine. A companion who walks the path with you: it reminds you what came before you go on, answers from inside the lesson itself, and takes you by the hand to the next step when you are ready for it.

  • It reminds you what came beforeBefore each new course it reviews with you what that course was built on — because the tenth course cannot be understood without the first.
  • It answers from inside the lessonIt draws on all the school's lessons and its thirteen books, and points you to where the answer lies — not to an opinion of its own.
  • It moves you on a stepIt knows your place on the path, so when you finish it opens the next lesson for you directly, with no searching and no distraction.
How the Study Companion works
Study CompanionReading with you · Course three

I'm in “The Sovereignty of God and the Responsibility of Man”, and I've forgotten what I studied in “The Character of God”. Remind me of the essentials before I go on.

In “The Character of God” (22 lessons) we settled on three foundations that hold up what you are in now: his holiness, his absolute sovereignty, and his faithfulness to the covenant. The course in front of you asks one question: if God is sovereign to that degree, then where does your responsibility lie?

Lesson five begins at exactly this point. Shall I open it for you?
